Sinopse

“Quicksand” is a novel written by Nella Larsen, published in 1928. Larsen was an African-American writer of the Harlem Renaissance, known for her depiction of the Black experience in the United States.

“Quicksand” tells the story of Helga Crane, a woman of mixed race who seeks to find her place in society. Helga is the daughter of a Danish Black mother and a Caribbean Black father, and she grapples with issues of racial and cultural identity throughout the novel.

The narrative follows Helga as she tries to fit into different environments and communities, including a school for African-Americans in the southern United States, a school for Black students in Denmark, and a Black cultural movement in New York. However, she feels alienated and out of place in all these situations.
